Can CBD get you high?
CBD, or
cannabidiol, is a cannabinoid extracted from the cannabis and hemp plant. Hundreds
of substances are found in these plants, but CBD has gained popularity mainly because
of some federal laws.
Another
cannabinoid is THC, which has similar psychoactive effects as marijuana or
cannabis.
But can
CBD get you high? What happens when high
potency CBD is consumed? Keep reading to find the answers!
Cannabis and hemp; What’s the difference?
As
cannabidiol is found in the cannabis sativa plant, which can be classified into
three main classes:
·
Type 1 contains more than 0.3% THC, while CBD less than 0.5%.
·
Type 2 contains THC of more than 0.3% and 0.5% CBD.
·
Type 3 has less than 0.3% THC, while CBD is more than 0.5%.
A
product containing more than 0.3% THC may have psychoactive effects, so it's
considered illegal according to federal laws in many states. Type 1 and 2 are contemplated
as marijuana, while type 3 is hemp.
CBD vs. THC in giving high
The
primary distinguishing factor in them is their high-giving properties. Tetrahydrocannabinol,
or THC, gives a euphoric effect due to its psychoactive nature. Many
experiences have a pleasant feeling and a sense of relaxation. On the other
hand, CBD does not have psychoactive effects, but it has some health benefits
for people dealing with anxiety and depression.
Perplexity about CBD high
Many
people believe that THC gummies high is same as CBD, a misconception considering that
both products are derived from the same plant. When CBD alone is consumed, no
intoxicating effects are produced. As it is also found in the hemp plant, hemp
too doesn’t cause psychoactive effects.
Getting high from different CBD products
CBD can
be found in wide varieties, from tinctures and oils to gummies and chew gums. CBD
oil can be incorporated into your food or drink or taken sublingually. Gummies
and vapes are oral sources of CBD, while external CBD sources like tinctures
and lotions are also available. But does any of them causes a high? No! It
doesn’t, even when taken in high concentration.
CBD high and strength; What’s the relation?
CBD
doesn't cause a euphoric high like THC, even when taken in large quantities. It
does cause some the side effects like dizziness and nausea and a temporary mood
boost, but it isn’t like a high caused by THC. Some people prefer to take CBD
high strength products to get intense results without psychoactive effects.
CBD legality
CBD has
gained massive popularity after the changes in federal laws about legalization.
According to them, those products that don't give psychoactive effects or are
high are legal to use. CBD doesn't cause a euphoric high, so it's legal in
almost all states. In contrast, THC has a specific limit of no more than 0.3%.
Conclusion
There's
a lot of confusion among people about the use and legality of these products,
especially after the 2018 farm bill. There have been many cases when CBD was
confused with THC, and people suffered because of confusion among officers.
Nevertheless, CBD is different from THC in psychoactive properties.
